saatchi gallery in adelaide- BRITISH ART NOW

“A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.
                                                                        Oscar Wilde

I couldn't believe my ears/eyes/nose when I first caught wind that the Saatchi collection was coming to Australia, and not just any ol' state but in no other than little Adelaide (can you tell that I'm proud as punch?).
The Saatchi Gallery in Adelaide- British Art Now is a must see, however if you do 'go see' I advise that you look away...now!
I'm not one to take photos in galleries because there is a time and place for facebook/twitter/instagram snaps but I couldn't help but want to show and tell with those who wouldn't have the pleasure.
You probably won't recognise most of the emerging artists in the exhibition, (don't pretend you do) but with the Saatchi midas touch they have been catapulted onto the public domain, and with such force that they will become household names.

I took along my dear friend Simon aka Pock - I always like my gallery friends to be like-minded as I am. There is nothing better than spending a day being so creatively inspired, and with one of your best friends.

Dummies guide to the Saatchi Gallery in Adelaide.
Charles Saatchi is considered one of Britain's most influential collectors of contemporary art, he is the biggest crusader for emerging artists. Known for sponsoring YBAs (Young British Artists) such as Damien Hirst - the man who adorned a skull with way too many diamonds.
The art is not so much elite that it is about the world right now, and that is exactly the point of his collection.

If you do happen to find yourself in the lovely Adelaide the exhibition runs till the 23rd October at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
If I hear you head to the south and don't check this out I will be very disappointed.

Have I just posted 4 pictures of myself posing in front of my fridge eating a banana? Yep.
When was the last time you ate a banana? seriously?
I had to go back to my parents house to eat such overpriced high society food.

I look a little mangled from waking up 10 minutes before my 6am red eye flight to Adelaide (whoops)
Wearing literally the first things I found strewn across my bedroom floor as my silver service cab beeped downstairs

Vintage shoulder cut out polka dot shirt from one of my favourite old haunts Mint Vintage

pink lady projects

I'm a little bored with my current state of hair at the moment..
I've been every shade of blonde for the past 4 years and yes while I do maintain the thought that blondes have more fun, I can't help but think what it would be like to be a little 'experimental' ( either that or I'm entering a quarter life crisis)

I've recently become reality TV addicted, and with Masterchef done and dusted I'm onto the new series 3 of Project Runway Australia. I may not have loved her designs (she wasn't too amazing) but I was fascinated with the neo/goth Rachael and her pink mane. A little trend I've noticed is that the Project Runway (now eliminated) contestant isn't the only one dying her locks in pop colour, Kate Bosworth, Lara Bingle and Katy Perry have all been spotted with hyper colour tresses.

I've conducted a little research, because in my true style I will need to deliberate over this for at least 2 weeks. On my dash to collect macaroons from The Deli in Potts Point (which are amazing) I popped my head into Our Place and had a quick chat to hair expert and Goldwell ambassador Kelly Grant. (who also worked on the show) At this point in time I wasn't sure if it would even be possible, and what would happen if I instantly hated it and realised it goes with nothing in my wardrobe! (the chances of this is highly likely)

After giving my hair a once over she explained that because I'm already quite bright blonde I'd be able to go pink straight away (tick)

For all those hair savvy people out there apparently Goldwell Elumin doesn't contain any ammonia which means it won't oxidise and instead it just fades off. - in layman's terms this means my hair won't fall out. (double tick)

Thoughts on the fairy floss hair colour experiment? I am slightly worried about peoples 'perception' but the industry in which I work welcomes creativity... so my lolly hair should be embraced with open arms and open minds right? and my amazing directors at work are just so ecstatic about my possible new transformation (right ladies :)

Should I take the pink plunge? I have put together a little pink-spiration imagery for your reference .. (ok, sorry if I put another pun into this post I may hate myself too)

As always thanks for listening.

HAPPY MONDAY!

jeremy scott for adidas originals launch

I'm just a little bit in awe with the whole cheeky Jeremy Scott for Adidas Originals collab, so when I was invited along to the official launch of the collection I found myself clicking RSVP in no time.

It kicked off last Wednesday night at The Atrium in Sydney as  eager JS 4 AO fans literally lined up around the corner to get their paws on a pair of panda or other hilariously outlandish kicks.
I even found myself standing next to a girl with an Adidas manicure!

Once inside it was manic! The crowds were wearing/showing off their own pieces of Jeremy Scott as DJ Edo ripped through hip hop tracks and punters tried to 'win' the chance to 'buy' a piece from the collection.... Call me naive but I was not at all prepared for the hype surrounding this..

Apparently the entire limited edition collection was snapped up quicker than the Hello Panda boxes on offer... I didn't get a chance to buy anything (because I probably would have been rolled walking home) I did walk away with 2 boxes of Hello Pandas and a hug from a real life grubby costumed panda bear- score!
