new things

Well here at the CakeFace office (my bedroom) we are wrapping things up for 2010.
I hope this year has been everything you could have wanted and more (cliche I know)
I don't really believe in new year resolutions
but all I hope is that the new year brings happiness and more good times than bad.

Much love to you all
Thank you so much for supporting me over the past year
and I just know that 2011 is going to be a year of spectacular proportions.

Now I'm off to try and work out what my ensemble for tonight, goddamn this heat! (massive dilemmas)
Drink up, surround yourself with amazing people and enjoy the life you've been given.

Here's to looking towards the sun.
and in the words of thy Kayne West..
"So I think it's time for us to have a toast"

the season to be merry & all that jazz

tis' that time of year
thy work Christmas party
when it's completely appropriate to get ridiculously drunk with your seniors without (maybe) running the risk of dismissal.
We had our work Christmas do recently at Sparrow (amazing)
If you haven't been please do, its awesome.
My work girls (and boy) are absolutely gorgeous and make my work life such a pleasure (even at the worst of times)
Loved the entire night and my post birthday cake celebrations - so cute!
Ended up at Sugar at all hours of the night (which is assumed to occur)
hilariously funny.
I'm still not really feeling the whole festive spirit though
pretty sure time is ultimately running out.
might chuck on 'A Mom for Christmas' ( Olivia Newton-John at her peak!)

I love this vintage shawl I found hiding in the back of my closet, I think I was channeling Carrie (SATC) when she was at the funeral for Mirandas mum. (I think)

trapped in a photobooth

I am alive.
I've been held hostage by a very elaborate organisation and writing this from their media hub (not really)
A little soul searching and I'm back to my poor neglected CakeFace
-I apologise profusely.

Sometimes we all need a little time to stop and reboot-
to find our feet, work out where our head is at and reassess.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all, in fact I recommend such a task.

Relationships break down, jobs drive us crazy, friendships disintergrate
and we just really want to run away and delete our facebooks but we shouldn't and we can't..
I've found in times like this it's better to sit and wait it out because what your running from will eventually catch up with you (at the most inconvenient of times nonetheless)

We all survive this mess of a life, none of us will get out alive, but we will carry on no matter what gets thrown our way...
And look on the bright side, it's nearly the end of 2010 (thankgosh)
I'm going to be drinking to absolute amazing times in 2011 (don't we say this every year?)

I will leave you with a quote from one of my absolute loves Oscar Wilde..
I'm sure we were involved in one of our past lives... when he wasn't Irish..

"One can survive everything, nowadays, except death, and live down everything except a good reputation."

thank you for listening to my pep talk,
aren't you glad you did?
:)

NT- these photobooth pics have absolutely no relevance to anything that I wrote about... I just liked them...

These pictures are a few weeks old, they seem to have fallen in the archive folder, but alas I found them! (yay)
These were from Square One

It's always heaps of fun.
You should try it.

the day the music died

John Lennon
October 9th 1940 - December 8 1980

Today marks the 30th year anniversary of John Lennons death.
On this day Mark David Chapman took from the world one of the most influential people of our time.
Everybody remembers such a significant day and what they were doing at the time
they found out.. (I don't, I wasn't born)
but it's a tragedy that the world (regardless of age) won't forget.

After visiting the Annie Leibovitz exhibition last week it reminded me, she was one of the last people to spend time with him the day he was gunned down. It was a photo shoot for Rolling Stone, Yoko was there too, but Annie just wanted Lennon for the cover.
How would you be... photographing such a legend moments before his demise..
and for Yoko, to have such a perfect memory, forever..

If you're wondering, yes the picture did make it to the January cover, and yes it was of both Yoko and Lennon. (it would have been pretty disrespectful had it not been)

I visited The Dakota and Strawberry Fields (where some of his ashes were scattered)
last year when I was in New York.
It's a beautiful place and I could only wish to be there today to pay my respects.
But I'm not, so I'll just hum Beatles tunes all day.

"Imagine all the people living life in peace.
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one."
J.Lennon

fabrication parade

I previously had mentioned the Fabrication event, and here is the round-up. (albeit slight delayed)
So, The Tivoli on the Wednesday night was frilled to the brim yet again with Adelaides fashion posse, to witness the one-off unique designs for the recycled clothing competition.

The result was truly outstanding, and it was so amazing to see the creations these talented beings came up with using such, well ugly ingredients.
I didn't envy the judges as the competition was pretty tight.

Winners on the night - Mistress by Candice Hooley
Runner up- Hot Couture.

A massive clap-clap to Katherine and Cristina for organising the entire event, it went so smoothly and really was the injection of creativity that Adelaide needed.
